The Power of Chanting – The Miracle of Mantra

Chanting is a significant and mysterious practice. In fact, it is not just a practice – chanting is the highest nectar, a tonic that fully nourishes our inner being. One of the most graceful ways to experience the love that we already are, is through chanting God’s Name. Chanting opens the heart and makes love flow within us. It releases such intoxicating inner bliss, that simply through the nectar it generates, we can enter into transcendental states of ecstasy. Many great saints and sages attained Perfection by chanting the Divine Name. Chanting is one of the greatest of all therapies for purifying negativities from within the self and also from within the atmosphere around us. Waves of bliss radiate out to embrace the whole world and beyond, from someone who is chanting, just as ripples move outward in water.

God lives in any place His Name is sung, just as the Goddess lives in any place Her Divine Name is celebrated. Lord Krishna says: ‘I do not dwell in the heavens, nor am I seen in the orb of the sun. I transcend even the minds of yogis. But if you ever need me, know that you can find Me in a place where devotees are chanting My Name with love.’

“This is the greatness of chanting. It is a magnet that shows God’s power; by chanting the Divine Name we can have God instantly in our hearts. God has two aspects. One is the pure, transcendent aspect, which is completely beyond name or form. The other is the personal aspect, which has form and attributes. The Name is that personal aspect – the Name is the purest elixir because it is the actual form of the Lord. A person who understands the mystery of the Name knows that when we chant God’s Name, we touch God with the tongue and when we listen to it, we hear God through the ears…the glory of chanting is immeasurable. Tukuram explained it beautifully when he said: ‘with the sweetness of my chanting I will make the knowers of truth drool. I will bring great yogis out of Samadhi. I will make pilgrims desert the holy places. As I chant, I will make my own body the embodiment of love. Through the glory of chanting, my entire being will become the Absolute’.”
Quote from Paramahansa Muktananda.

Here are some mantras/chants to enjoy. They can be repeated silently, or out loud. They can be sung and shared in any creative way imaginable. Attending live chanting is also a wonderful way to experience the ecstasy of the chant; singing along with recordings of chanting will also uplift, inspire and transform. Be assured that all the chants translate as glorifying various manifestations of God-Goddess-All That Is. They are also MANTRAS, and so have a transcendental and vibrational effect of purification and resonance, over and above the actual meaning of the words.

For “new” chanters open yourself to the chant – allow the devotional part of your being to come forward and have a voice. Or…simply allow the resonance of the chant to relax and still your body, mind and emotions, bringing solace and peace to your spirit.

For experienced chanters – GO FOR IT! – let the universe hear you and share your co-creative love!
